LeadTip #43 Overcoming Warfare

“But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel.”

Exodus 1:12 NKJV

There are times in life, in business, in church, when we are challenged by circumstances that arise out of nowhere. Some problems are beyond understanding and inconsistent with the results of the past. When confusion, fear and anxiety begin to combat divine order, faith, and peace, you are likely experiencing spiritual warfare.

✓ Spiritual warfare can lead to spiritual growth and breakthrough.

The Bible tells us affliction caused the Israelites to multiply. God will sometimes allow circumstances and spiritual enemies to buffet our plans. This forces us to grow in faith, persistence, prayer, trust and wisdom. It pushes us to try new ways to achieve our goals and be awakened to areas of weakness.

✓ Never quit during a time of warfare.

Do not let anything and anyone not under God’s authority comes against your plans and dreams. Do not let difficulty make decisions for you. Be led by prayer, wisdom and counsel, and not by circumstances and pressure. Do not panic, pray!

✓ Every spiritual leader will face spiritual warfare, especially when God has plans for your advancement.

Spiritual warfare comes in different forms. Sometimes the devil can even appear as an angel of light presenting opportunities to pull you away from the purposes of God and ministry for your life. There have been many people that have left the road of their divine purpose and blessing to follow the road that may initially appear to lead to an easier life. But Jesus never promised an easy life, He promised eternal life.

When the world was hit by Covid-19 there was obviously an attack against church gatherings. Many church leaders allowed fear to lead to isolation and laziness. It was much easier to lay back and not hold church services than to be innovative and find a way to stay together as the church. Churches that fought back against this spiritual warfare and re-opened quickly experienced growth. You have to push back and resist what comes against the vision, goals and dreams the Holy Spirit places within you.

✓ We cannot blame everything on the devil.

The results of poor decisions, poor planning and plain laziness can result in brokenness, failure and poverty. Sin and violations of God’s commandments do the same.

✓ Do not see spiritual warfare as a negative in your life even though it may be painful and very challenging.

Ask God to help you overcome, teach you to war a good warfare, learn from your mistakes, and turn what the devil means for harm to good.

“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12
