LeadTip #56 Are You Loyal

2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”

In this world loyalty is hard to find.

The enemy has done a great job in perverting the idea of loyalty. It is sometimes seen as weakness and blindly following others over a cliff.  Pride fights against loyalty and justifies doing so.

God sees loyalty as a great virtue.

God deliberately seeks out those who have loyal hearts and He rewards them for it. Loyalty requires deep humility and love, and esteeming others more highly than yourself.  Loyalty comes from understanding its importance to the LORD and its effect upon the betterment of all those around us.

Loyalty is not based upon who is right, but upon what is right before God.

Loyalty is what causes men and women to fight for their spouse and children, when marriage and life get difficult.  Loyalty is what caused eleven of the twelve disciples of Jesus to ultimately overcome their fears and failures and give their lives for His service.  Loyalty is what led young men and women to volunteer for service during World War II and to die for their nation and the freedom of others.

Loyalty is honorable before the LORD.  A church that has people loyal to Jesus, to each other, to their families, to their leaders, is a church that Jesus honors.

Loyalty will be tested.

David’s loyalty to King Saul is a perfect example of a man who left judgment to God for Saul’s wickedness and unjust treatment. David lived by principle and God rewarded him with the throne.  God’s ways are higher than our ways.

Isaiah 55:9  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Are you loyal?

God does not expect blind loyalty, but he does honor a humble, loving, forgiving and honoring heart that fights to maintain the bond of peace and loyalty.   This is what He rewards
