LeadTip #4 Unity

unity

John 17:21 “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You”

One of Jesus most important prayers was for believers to be in unity. Unity is essentially built upon love, humility, respect and obedience to the Word of God. It is a much higher calling than agreement.

We will never agree on everything, but we can certainly agree to stay in unity. Especially as Christians, we have a much higher standard to live by and purpose to live for. Without unity we can never achieve the high calling of Christ Jesus upon our lives. Unity commands a blessing and it gives us the strength to build His church and bring salvation to our world.

Our local church has had the favor of God upon it because of the unity of its eldership. Unity is a choice, a decision, a mature and spiritual position of mind and heart. Unity is a spiritual battle against the spirit of separation and divorce. It affects every area of lives, including marriage, family, career, spiritual covering, pastoring, and relationships. Unity protects you!

Pride, offense, unresolved hurt and unforgiveness will always fight against unity, and the result is never good. As the Bible says, “ a house divided against itself cannot stand.” Mark 3:25

The great preacher and revivalist Charles Spurgeon once said; “Satan always hates Christian fellowship; it is his policy to keep Christians apart. Anything which can divide saints from one another he delights in. He attaches far more importance to godly intercourse than we do. Since union is strength, he does his best to promote separation.”

Fight for unity! Fight for love!
