LeadTip #19 Surround yourself with the right people

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20

Who you follow, take advice from, associate with, do business with, and commune with, will determine your advancement in life and the amount of joy, peace and happiness you will experience. Those who make foolish decisions, lack integrity and godliness, should not be allowed to influence you. You are called as a Christian to influence and minister to them.

“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”” 1 Corinthians 15:33

More often than not, those you are closest to will influence your world view and perspective. And how you think will always determine how you make decisions, which will cause either godly gain or pain, excellence or mediocrity, better or worse in your life.

God cannot bless what He does not endorse. He will not support a compromise of Biblical values, principles, and wisdom. The wisdom of God is far superior to the wisdom of man, thus be careful who and what you allow to steer you.

Be careful as to whose guidance you will heed to determine the direction of your future. God wants the best for you, and He has provided the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and wise counsel to help you. So be sure to surround yourself with the right people. Examine the fruit of those whose tree you decide to eat from.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” – Jim Robin
