LeadTip #26 The Power of Agreement

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” Matthew 18:19

✓ God has not created us to be isolated or self focused in life, but to partner with others. Jesus even teaches praying in agreement with another is what produces results.

The LORD elevates the power of agreement, the power of more than one. He himself depended upon others, a team of twelve, to achieve His purpose. Jesus called them His friends. Jesus modeled leadership as something you do in agreement with others who become friends and family. He called it His church.

✓ Man was not created to do life alone, but to live a life of godly harmony and community.

God himself is a communal being, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The three together in agreement provide the power for all life to exist and for all the eternal plans of God to come to fruition. Each member of the Godhead is dependent upon the unique characteristics and function of the other to accomplish all things.

✓ We are created in the image of God, to follow in the example of the Godhead. God made us to work like Himself.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness… “ Genesis 1.26

As we see throughout the Bible in the relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, there is power in agreement and blessings in a unified community.

Everything in the universe is dependent upon and operating in agreement with something else to maintain its purpose. For life itself to exist there must be a harmonious orchestration of living things. This is divine order. Chaos or disorder is the absence of agreement. Every organization, institution, family, church, etc., needs the power of agreement to function properly.

✓ Agreement does not mean there is lack of uniqueness and freedom.

Uniqueness was never meant to be alone. The essence of being unique is based upon a comparison to something else that has its own uniqueness. Good leaders understand they are not called to stand alone as exalted ones or be islands unto themselves. But rather, Spirit filled leaders use their unique gifts and talents with others to create a tapestry of intertwining lives to better mankind. This is the heartbeat of God for His people, our marriages, families and His church.

✓ We live our best life when in agreement with the LORD and with others in every aspect of life, i.e., marriage, family, business, church, and society.

I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. John 17:21

True leaders understand the power of agreement and fight to maintain it. They understand there is divine blessing in agreement and the devil is against it. The devil is an enemy of agreement. He is a divider and lawless. He exalts pride and division above agreement.

Agreement is superior to being right. It has greater power and produces greater results. Humility is a friend of agreement and God is close to it! He leads the humble in justice, and He teaches the humble His way. Psalm 25:9
