LeadTip #25 New Year Resolutions

““Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19

In every New Year the people of the world try to reset their lives for better. Diet plans, working out, and saving money seem to be the top New Year’s resolutions. Sad to say success wanes as the year progresses and it is estimated only 4% achieve all their goals.

It is good to know as believers we have extra support and power to achieve our goals and desires. We have the person of the Holy Spirit. He is available to encourage, counsel, and empower us. He is a personal trainer and coach.

We also know if we stumble in our endeavors we can start anew every morning, not having to wait for a new year. And there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus!

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

New Year’s resolutions are helpful as they help us to re-think our lives and where we would like to be. But again, we do not have to wait for a new year for better, we can start today to apprehend better.

Here are some spiritual tips for a better you.

✓ Let your tongue be in agreement with God’s Word, His love for you, His desire to bless you and your family.

Let your testimony be-

“I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me!” Philippians 4.13

✓ Read the Bible and pray daily and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you continually. Have a Bible reading plan.

✓ Worship in song when struggling and ask God to fill you with fresh hope and faith. Make a worship play list.

✓ Be all in at your local church. Make serving the Lord and people, central to your life. This brings great fulfillment and fruitfulness to your life.

“…like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.” 2 Timothy 2:3-4

✓ Get around people filled with faith, hope and godly expectation. Attitude determines altitude.

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

✓ Look for new opportunities to share the love of Christ with others. Expand your circle of friends. You are called to carry the wounded, encourage the weary and lead others to the cross and victory.

Lord we ask you for great expectancy and faith to fill our hearts. Help us to apprehend all you desire for us, the church, nation and world. We seek you through our worship, prayer and fasting as we begin a new year. Let the power of expectation, prayer, spiritual unity, boldness, servanthood and faith propel us into a year of great breakthrough and salvation! Redeem, restore, and renew. Let the old pass away and make all things new. In Jesus Name! Amen
