Why God is This Happening? (Pastor Ron Termale) October 10, 2021
No matter how strong of a believer you are, you will go through times in your life when you ask God, “Why is this happening to me?”
Throughout Scripture, men and women were challenged in their faith.
God allowed Job to go through a time of great tragedy and pain when Satan challenged God over Job’s righteousness. Satan killed Job’s children and took away his health and wealth, but Job still maintained his righteousness and did not curse God or walk away from Him.
Job questioned where God was during his trials and said, “Look, I go forward, but He is not there, And backward, but I cannot perceive Him; When He works on the left hand, I cannot behold Him; When He turns to the right hand, I cannot see Him” (Job 23:8-9, NKJV).
How you respond to your trials will either create abundant life or produce greater pain and spiritual death.
Kings Saul and David both sinned and failed, and the disciples Judas and Peter both denied Christ. However, David’s life ended with God calling him a man after His own heart, and Peter’s life ended with God building the Church on him, whereas Saul’s and Judas’s lives ended in judgment and tragedy. The difference is that David and Peter responded to their challenges by turning to God.
Pastor Ron shares a certainly in life: earth will never be heaven and you will never avoid life’s challenges, suffering, and tragedies, but every person who holds on and fights for their faith ends up producing a testimony of God’s grace, mercy, and salvation (see the life certainty shared by King David in Ps 37:25).
Two truths that will encourage you, give you peace through the challenge, and lead you to victory:
1) Some things that you go through in this life are common to man and you are stronger than you think.
God will never give you a test that someone has not gone through before, or push you past your limit (1 Cor 10:13). Take heart, for Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33), and you can do all things through Him (Phil 4:13). Life is like a roller coaster, but God is in the car with you, and your brothers in sisters in Christ surround you, so stay in the car and do not lose heart (Heb 12:1-3).
2) Every single test that you face will lead to promotion.
Even though Job questioned why God allowed his tragic losses, and he started to go “backward” (Job 23:8), Job then had a revelation: “When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold” (v. 10, NKJV; see a similar revelation given to Joshua in Deut 31:8 and shared by Solomon in Prov 3:5-6).
God will use the challenges of life to perfect us, build us, and teach us to hang onto our trust in Him. Your testimony that you kept serving the LORD through your trial will affect everyone around you and will help bring people to Jesus.
